Learn To Go Quiet
by Guy Finley - Radio
Host of "The Letting Go Show"
Tuesdays, 6pm PT
|
We can learn to go quiet in the middle of what would
ordinarily be a psychological riot going on within us. The frantic
search for any answer - being suddenly caught up in a stream of
thoughts and feelings trying to figure out what to do with some
frustration - turning to those frantic answers, looking for them,
is like turning on a fan and hoping to straighten out the papers
on your desk.
We mustn't be afraid to Go Quiet in those moments. In much the same
way as we look out and see something beautiful, we can look interiorly
and see that inside of us there is a scramble going on for some
kind of security, and to know in that moment that it is not who
we really are that's afraid of what's going on.
Here's something that's stunning. I remember the first
time I heard it and what it did to me, and how my mind actually
went quiet when I heard it. Listen to this idea.
It's OK not to know what to do in that moment when
we're afraid. It's OK to not know. The reason it's OK to not know
is because if we can just suspend the usual scramble for thoughts
and feelings that will somehow secure the moment for us, and instead
see that scramble of thoughts and feelings, we actually become aware
within our heart and mind that something is running itself ragged,
trying to get to a finish line where it will never arrive.
Anxious thoughts and feelings don't want the freedom
they promise. They want to bring us into the prison where there
is no quiet but just the riot we're afraid of, and then turn to
those anxious thoughts and feelings to escape the very thing they're
creating within us.
The more we can learn to Go Quiet in the face of that mental riot,
the further we will be able to see a clarity - the promise of a
new destiny -- because we've stepped out of the river of that crazy
stream of thoughts and feelings and stepped right into a new understanding
that can only grow in a quiet mind.

Arthritis. Osteoporosis. Sports Injury.
Bone & Joint Support Can Help
by Linda Mackenzie, C.H.T., Ph.D. (c)
Over 100 million Americans suffer from arthritis,
osteoporosis or sports injury to the bone and joints. Supporting
bone and joint health is the best defense against pain, long
term problems and injury and here's why!
ARTHRITIS: There are 100 rheumatic diseases that
may be diagnosed as arthritis. True Arthritis comes in two forms
osteoarthritis and rheumatoid.
ARTHRITIS SYMPTOMS
Joint immobility
Inflammation or enlargement of the joints
Stiffness
Swelling
Pain
Deformity
POSSIBLE ARTHRITIS CAUSES:
Environmental factors
Food allergies
Fungal, viral or bacterial infection
Diet or eating processed foods
Obesity
OSTEOPOROSIS
Osteoporosis, although associated with menopause is not a symptom
of menopause. It can happen to men too! A progressive disease,
osteoporosis causes weakness in the bone structure which brings
a higher risk to getting bone fractures.
POSSIBLE OSTEOPOROSIS CAUSES
Nutrient Deficiency of calcium, vitamin D, boron, silicon, manganese,
zinc, and copper
Anorexia
Poor diet
Excessive caffeine
Long term use of corticosteroids, anticoagulant or anti-seizure
medications
Lack of exercise
Kidney, liver, thyroid and endocrine disease.
SPORTS INJURY
Sports injury can occur from any sport that is played continually
over a long period time or from an accident. From tiddly winks
to football repetitive motion can put a strain on tendons, muscles,
bones and joints.
IMPROVING BONE & JOINT HEALTH
By protecting your bone & joint health you may be able to
prevent, minimize or reduce healing time of bone & joint
problems. Normal bone health depends on heredity, nutritional,
lifestyle and hormonal, liver and kidney functional activity.
o Physical exercise usually increases bone growth;
lack of exercise leads to bone loss. Weight training exercises
for 30-60 minutes, 3-4 times a week is best. Try Tai Chi, Qi
Gong, Yoga and walking.
o Foods to avoid or limit: sugar, caffeine, artificial
colorings, flavorings and preservatives, processed foods, processed
meats and fast foods. For arthritis also eliminate or limit
intake of tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant and mushrooms
o Limit red meat to 3 times a week
o Eat right with a high fiber, mostly vegetarian
diet with lots of green, leafy vegetables
o Reduce or eliminate alcohol because it promotes
bone loss
o Try helpful herbs like boswellia, yucca, willow
bark, devils claw, ginger, tumeric, basil, dandelion, parsley,
cumin, oat straw, stinging nettle and black cohash.
o Use aromatherapy oils like rose, lavender, sage,
eucalyptus, rosemary and benzoin.
Stop smoking; smokers have lower bone mass.
o Wear proper shoes and use proper equipment when
playing sports.
o Try homeopathy for bones and joints.
o Use dietary supplements such as: A good multi-vitamin;
Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, fish oil, coenzyme Q10, selenium,
phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, boron, silicon, manganese,
zinc, copper, MSM, glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin and green
foods like spirulina, chlorella or blue green algae.
