HOST OF THE MONTH:
Robert Moss
Way of the Dreamer
2nd Tuesday ea. Month., 9 a.m. PST

Each month we focus on one of our great hosts and here's some info about: Robert Moss

Robert Moss

Who is Robert Moss...

Robert Moss describes himself as a dream teacher, on a path for which there has been no career track in our culture. He is the creator of Active Dreaming, an original synthesis of dreamwork and shamanism. Born in Australia, he survived three near-death experiences in childhood. He leads popular seminars all over the world, including a three-year training for teachers of Active Dreaming. A former lecturer in ancient history at the Australian National University, he is a best-selling novelist, journalist and independent scholar. He has published twelve books on dreaming, shamanism and imagination.

He identifies the great watershed in his adult life as a sequence of visionary events that unfolded in 1987-1988, after he decided to leave the world of big cities and the fast-track life of a popular novelist and put down roots on a farm in the upper Hudson Valley of New York. Moss started dreaming in a language he did not know that proved to be an archaic form of the Mohawk language. Helped by native speakers to interpret his dreams, Moss came to believe that they had put him in touch with an ancient healer, an arendiwanen or "woman of power" and that they were calling him to a different life.

Out of these experiences he wrote a series of historical novels and developed the practice he calls Active Dreaming, an original synthesis of contemporary dreamwork and shamanic methods of journeying and healing. A central premise of Moss's approach is that dreaming isn't just what happens during sleep; dreaming is waking up to sources of guidance, healing and creativity beyond the reach of the everyday mind.

He introduced his method to an international audience as an invited presenter at the conference of the International Association for the Study of Dreams at the University of Leiden in 1994.

Over the past 20 years, he has led seminars at the Esalen Institute, Kripalu, the Omega Institute, the New York Open Center, Bastyr University, John F. Kennedy University, Meriter Hospital, and many other centers and institutions. He has taught depth workshops in Active Dreaming in the UK, Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Brazil and Austria and leads a three-year training for teachers of Active Dreaming. He hosts the ""Way of the Dreamer"" radio show at www.healthylife.net.

He has appeared on many TV and radio shows, ranging from Charlie Rose and the Today show to Coast to Coast and the Diane Rehm show on NPR. His articles on dreaming have been published in media ranging from Parade to Shaman's Drum.

Moss was a keynote speaker at the IASD world conference in Chicago in June 2009. He was keynote presenter at the East Coast conference of the Institute of Transpersonal Studies in October 2009 and the keynote speaker at the A.R.E.'s Easter conference in 2010. His books have been published in more than 20 foreign languages.

FEATURE ARTICLE
Recognize the Voices of Self-Defeat
by Guy Finley -
Radio Host of "Guy Finley Live! "
3rd Tuesday every month, 9am PT

Q and A with "Letting Go Author" Guy Finley

Can you help me understand why I give myself away so often? I know I do it, but I am never aware of this self-defeating behavior while I'm doing it.

GF- Have you ever asked yourself, "What in the world did I just do?" or "Why did I say that cruel thing?" Who are you talking to? If you didn't sink your own ship, then who did? Something took you over. The beauty of staying awake within ourselves and remaining watchful and aware is that it is possible to see the truth of this and to be in relationship with that which never gives itself away to any negative condition. This means that when we do give ourselves away, each time we compromise ourselves without knowing it, we are asleep in that moment to what we are in relationship with. Awakening is about ending our unconscious relationship with that level of our present nature that not only gives itself away hand over fist, but also is always looking for new and better ways to do it!

Once we have become conscious of self-wrecking thoughts, how do we know the difference between going into denial about them or otherwise unconsciously repressing them?

GF- The only way it's possible to truly deliver ourselves from the punishment of our own self-wrecking thoughts is to begin awakening to their hidden cause within us. For example, self-loathing is a string of dark thoughts driven by negative emotions based in imagination about ourselves. The secret cause of self-loathing is an unconscious image we have of being better than that self we detest. So it is not a question of repressing or ignoring self-wrecking thoughts and feelings, as neither of these inner actions will free us from the effects of unwanted inner states. Seeing beyond any doubt that the thoughts that attack us do so because we have unconsciously agreed to their onslaught is what makes us quit the whole business. In a manner of speaking, at this point in our inner growth, there is no more fun or hope left for us in this kind of suffering. Then suffering falls off by itself.

One maxim of self-development I sense is true is that the way out of any stressful situation is to "go through it." How does this approach apply to reducing stress-producing thought-attacks?

GF- Everything depends upon our ability to inwardly discriminate between thoughts and feelings that are for us as opposed to those that are against us. Whenever confronted with an onslaught of internal impressions, the most powerful tool you have is to go silent. Step away from the situation inwardly by bringing everything that is going through you into your deliberate field of attention. There is a native unity in a silent mind that is able to both witness and "taste" the thoughts and feelings passing through it. It is this internal field of silence that reveals the character of any impressions and shows them for what they are. It's hard to make a mistake when your first wish is to see these thoughts and feelings instead of just unconsciously turning your will over to them.

Spiritual Respect
by Linda Mackenzie, C.H.T., Ph.D.(c)

The dictionary defines the noun "respect" as the following:

  • The act of respecting or noticing with attention;
  • the act of holding in high esteem; deference or honor;
  • a state of being held in honor or esteem;
    to show consideration for; regard;
  • courteous expression of respect; regards;
    a particular point or detail;
  • partiality; undue bias to the prejudice of justice;
    consideration; motive in reference to something;
  • relation; regard; reference; as in respect for your problem.

These are all meanings of respect on a human level, but how does it apply spiritually? What is spiritual respect? Where does it come from? How and when should you use it?

What is Spiritual Respect?

Spiritual respect is not earned in the sense of what you know or what you achieve on your life path journey. It does not come from judgment, expectation, the need for control, the need to be right, negative emotions like jealousy or worry about what other people think, rationalization, attitudes or feelings on what you want or think "respect" should be. It is not used for personal gain, ego or power. Spiritual respect is a God-given right held by all living things that should be honored, esteemed and regarded by everyone at all times. It is not demanding. It does not encompass judgment from human mores and values. It is the awareness of seeing beyond human limitations and conditions to the positive life force in every living thing.

Where Does It Come From?

  • A deep abiding unshakable Faith
  • Trust
  • Development of an inner knowing
  • Balance of power and energy
  • Positive energy
  • Hope and Charity
  • Grounding, focus and centeredness
  • Experience

How to Use Spiritual Respect?

  • Separate human emotion/physical respect experiences from spiritual respect experience.
  • Use awareness to see beyond human limitations and conditions to the positive life force of every living thing.
    Honor and esteem the uniqueness and energy in every living thing.
  • Act honorably and use gentle regard without judgment To realize that the personal journey of all is a unique process perceived from their own perspective which is their growth path to higher consciousness.
  • Find the positiveness in each situation
  • Walk through fear and judgment
  • Think of the ramifications on all around you before you act.
  • Welcome change as an opportunity
  • Take responsibility for your actions
  • Use the Power of intention and positive thought
    Do not intrude on anyone's free will
  • Balance receiving and giving
  • Self-empower people in their path of self-discovery
  • Use kindness
  • Perceive how people or things will receive your actions, thoughts and feelings
  • Understand that we are all one and make a positive impact on existence through every word, thought and deed.
  • Understand that everything has value
  • Benefit mankind and the world
  • Come from love in all things

How to Develop Spiritual Respect

  • Live in the Moment - not the past or future
  • Let go of judgment
  • Let go of rigid goals and expectation
  • Let go of rationalization
  • Let go of negative thoughts and phrases like can't, shouldn't, wouldn't, if
  • Let go of negative emotions like hate, discrimination, anger, jealousy, hate, self-pity, guilt
  • Develop responsibility for your actions
  • Eliminate fear on all levels
  • Let go of ego Realize there are no secrets
  • Realize there are no mistakes
  • Take care of your body, mind and spirit
  • Reduce the 4 levels of stress in your life (physical, emotional, nutritional and environmental)
  • Practice relaxation
  • Let go of materialism
  • Let go of the need for power
  • Be self-reliant
  • Develop spiritual, ethical and moral values
  • Practice love

May Flow and Flowers

Here's some May Trivia for you. The name May, which was my Grandmother's name, has many different meanings dependent upon the country you come from. Here are some of them: Persian: Child of Light; Anglo-Saxon: Kinswomen; English : The Month of May; Hebrew: Wished For Child; Latin: Daughter of Atlas. May is supposed to be the last month of Spring - but because of Climate Change and many Governments manipulating the weather, with their chem trails and other methods, Spring hasn't really even sprung yet. With so many ups and downs, fluctuations, changes and general mayhem in the world each day it is hard to stay in balance.

But Balance is where need to be to make the most difference. If you want to help the planet than make sure your energy is coming from the heart chakra and up. Don't let the negative weigh you down. There are only opportunities to learn and we don't have to buy into the fear that seems to want to pervade our lives with the media stimulating you to think we are all on separate sides. This is just not true. We have a choice to select happiness or fear in every moment - and it might take some effort - but over time you can reprogram your mind to move to the positive faster.

Why would you want to choose the positive? Which by the way doesn't mean you have your head in the sand and can't see what's going on. Choosing the positive has a POSITIVE effect on your mind, body and spirit. Not only can being positive thinking impact your ability to cope with stress, and boost your immunity, it has an impact on your overall well-being and those around you. You actually contribute to the positive energy of the world just by being positive yourself. This etheric (unseen) positive energy helps to block the negative forces on the physical and spiritual planes. So see there are many reasons to try and choose happiness.

Here at HealthyLife.net we want to help you stay positive and give you information that is filled with truth and integrity. Information gives you power. Positive information gives you even more power. Every host is selected for their truth, integrity, and mission to help you and the planet become more positive.
