Keys to Understanding Your Dreams
by Robert Moss
Radio Host of:
"Way of the Dreamer"
2nd Tues., Every Month, 9am PT

1. Trust Your Feelings
Always pay attention to how you feel when you wake from a dream.
Your feelings and bodily sensations may be your best guide to the
relative urgency and importance of a dream, and its positive or
negative implications.
2. First Associations
In keeping a dream journal, you will want to get into the habit
of jotting down your first associations with the dreams you record.
What floats to the surface of your consciousness in the first minutes
after waking may come from layers of the dream that have eluded,
or from deeper levels of dreaming.
3. Reality Check
Though dreams are inner experiences, they often contain accurate
information about external reality. In both subtle and unsubtle
ways, dreams incorporate signals from the outside environments.
4. Dream Re-Entry
Dreams are real experiences, and a fully remembered dream is its
own interpretation. The meaning of a dream is inside the dream itself.
By learning how to re-enter dreams, you will develop the ability
to clarify messages about future events, resume contact with inner
teachers, and resolve unfinished business.
5. Dialogue with Dream Characters
One of the best ways to work out what your dream characters are
telling you is to ask them.
6. Tracking Your Dream Self
Who are you in your dreams? Are you the protagonist or simply an
observer? Are you younger or older? Male or female? The character
who appears in all of your dreams, even if only as a witness is
you.
7. Symbol Exploration
Although the dream source tries to communicate with us as clearly
as possible, it must often speak in symbols in order to carry us
beyond the limitations of the everyday mind.
8. "What Part of Me?"
Dreams make us whole. They show us the many aspects of ourselves
and help us to bring them under one rood. This is why it is often
useful to ask "what part of me" different characters and
elements in a dream might represent.
9. Dream Enactment
Write a dream motto: See if you can come up with a one-line statement
that summarizes what the dream is telling you.
Confirm your dream messages: Especially if you dream seems to contain
a warning about a situation looming up in external reality, you
may want to take steps to check the information.
Dream fulfillment or avoidance: If your dream seems to promise good
things, you will want to figure out practical ways you can help
to bring them to pass. If your don't like a future event you have
glimpsed in a dream, you will want to consider how to get off the
path that is leading you toward it.
Personal Rituals: Making a poem out of a dream report, drawing or
painting the images you have seen, or constructing a personal shield
or dream talisman are all excellent ways to honor the powers that
speak to you through dreams.

This month Microsoft's Radio Network
(MSN Radio Tuner) began simulcasting HealthyLife.Net 24/7 as one
of its 300 content providers. They reach millions of people a month,
so we are sending out positive energy to more people across the
world. Thank you Microsoft!
According to tea expert and HealthyLife.Net show host Mark "Dr.
Tea" Ukra, chamomile tea is sedative and good for insomnia.
And, notes Mark, "Gypsies believed that chamomile prevented
nightmares, so drinking chamomile tea on a bad night may keep the
dreams sweet. A little bit of chamomile under the pillow at night
would have the same mystical effect." (For more great tea tips,

From
the Editor's Desk
Savory summer is just the perfect season for making memories that
last a lifetime. It's time to get outside and engage life. Summertime
romance, bicycle rides, star-gazing, Renaissance fairs, blowing
bubbles, seashell hunts, picking plump vine-ripe tomatoes and blackberries,
jazz concerts on the green and reggae on the river, Friends of the
Library bookstore half-price sales, and gooey marshmallow roasts
while camping out at the beach are but some of my most cherished
thoughts and activities -past to present to future tense.
And the summertime dreams, too. An ideal closing to those special,
adventurous sunny-filled days is falling into a deep sleep--lulled
into a magical dream state by the rhythmic sounds of crashing shoreline
waves and wrapped up in a soft blanket of warm summer breeze. A
nice cup or two of chamomile tea is a relaxing additive.
While we're on the subject of sweet dreams and special memories,
don't miss Lynn Andrews' "Dream Weaving" retreat, being
held in beautiful Hawaii, December 3-6. Now is a great time to register.
Rest--renewal--rejuvenation is the theme. Sounds like heaven on
earth, doesn't it? The space is very limited for the retreat. It
is going to be a small group of around 75 people. For more details,
visit online www.lynnandrews.com or call 1-800-554-7414 (USA) or
+1 954-725-1706 (International) to register by phone.
A final note here, a big welcome to dreamy new HealthyLife.Net show
host Steve Truitt, whose innovative program "The Bottom Line,"
is going to knock your socks off-well, so to speak.
HealthyLife.Net's hot show line-up creates some of the best and
most memorable listening experiences you'll ever have. In fact,
make that for a life time. To borrow upon that popular line from
the Jim Carey hit movie, The Mask: "We're scorchin'!"
And to this show host ("The Backstage Gourmet with PJ Grimes,"
Mondays, 1-2 p.m.) and newsletter editor, being part of such an
incredible station as HealthyLife.Net is indeed a dream come true
and things that dreams are made of.
Until next time

Truitt. Steve is a certified practitioner of Hypnotherapy, NLP Practitioner

|
HL-1. Paint us a picture here of who Steve Truitt is and what
he's about. I'm a father of a beautiful 3-year-old girl and
my wife and I have another little girl on the way this November.
I love science and technology and am fascinated by the link of science
to Neuro-linguistic Programming, the work that I do.
What I'm about is personal growth and challenge. I think that is
crucial - especially in this time in our history as a nation and
as human beings - that we be honest, forthright, responsible and
smart about our choices and our lives. It's easy to be lazy and
irresponsible, but that's not me. Each day I endeavor to live in
truth and integrity. It doesn't always work, but I try.
HL-What are the strengths and benefits of partnering up with a professional
coach such as yourself? A coach is just like it sounds: someone
who is as dedicated to your success and growth as you are supposed
to be. When you don't want to get up in the morning and run five
miles, your running coach yells at you until you do. I don't yell,
but what I do for my clients is show them their life as they've
lived it up to this point. Usually they're not too happy with what
they see, and so making the change comes easier for them. I help
them along the way to see what they've got inside and what's possible
for them. As I say to my clients, "I'm your coach for life"
which means I'm a life coach and will always be there if you need
me.
HL-What's one key piece of advice you can offer us in how to
create a life that you really love? You have to take responsibility
for who you are and who you aren't. That's the key to all happiness.
We get so down on ourselves because we're not who we want to be,
or dream about being. But instead of finding out what makes us unique,
we dwell in the misery of our lacking. It's a shame, because if
people really knew how powerful they really are, it would be a completely
different and special world out there.
HL- What's the biggest obstacle to someone creating a life that
they love, and what are some small but effective action steps for
positive change? Staying consistent and committed to the work.
It's work. You can't have an epiphany about your life, feel incredible,
and then go back to the same old habits thinking everything will
be all right. If you're really looking for change that will last,
it must first come from the inside, then radiate out. Most people
think you attract happiness or things. That may be true, but if
you're miserable on the inside, that's what you're attracting: Misery.
One small thing you can do right now to change is to decide every
morning for the next 90 days (AND I MEAN EVERY MORNING) you're going
to wake up with a plan to let go of something that day: Resentment,
anger, fear, jealousy, feeling sorry for yourself, etc. There's
always something - usually emotion fueled - that gets in the way
of you having what you want. Get out a journal, write down what
it is, and then spend the rest of that day letting it go. Apologize,
accept an apology, make a call, let someone off the hook, let yourself
off the hook... Whatever it takes to get past that emotion, do it.
BE IN ACTION! That will form a habit which will ultimately serve
your higher goals. And after 90 straight days of this, you might
not even recognize yourself!
HL-You have been quite successful and are involved with many
facets of radio, TV, film and "one-man" plays. How did
you come to walk this path? That was my way of expressing myself
as a kid: creatively. I was writing and directing plays and composing
albums of music when I was 13. My best friend and I used to set
up his video camera and just sit in front of it and create talk
shows and commercials and all sorts of stupid things like that.
This was about 20 years before "You Tube," and it's a
shame, some of that stuff would have been a big hit I think! I have
always had a creative side and now I use that side in my 'free time.'
As I got older, I chose television as an outlet for my talents and
got into TV hosting. It was a great run, and I'm not sure I'm actually
done with TV, but the coaching has been such an amazing "Third
Act" of my life, I'm just going with it. .
HL-What is your HealthyLife.Net radio show, "The Bottom
Line" about? The show is essentially what it says: "The
Bottom Line." Many people love to talk around their problems,
blame others, act like nothing's wrong, or just avoid situations
completely. I won't be a stand for that. If you're calling my show,
we get right past that and right to the situation at hand. Most
people don't even want to REALLY know what's going on, they just
want to complain. Some are just confused. My goal, my passion and
my job is to help them see what's really going on and whey they
can do to make a quick and lasting change.
HL- In addition to your new HealthyLife.Net radio show, what
are some of your current projects you're working on? I'm consulting
for several TV shows right now in development. They're working on
creating shows where the participants achieve breakthroughs with
their lives. I've also just finished my first book, and am shopping
it to publishers right now. The book is called "Stop Waiting
For Permission: Lesson In Taking YES For An Answer." I've been
working on it for 2 years. I've got some very cool celebrity interviews
in it with people who - to me - represent the ultimate in not taking
NO for an answer. I hope to have it published by next Spring.
HL- What's the best way for someone learn more about you and
your endeavors? Go to www.stevetruittcoaching.com.
I offer a weekly inspirational blog, access to tools and tips for
personal empowerment, and coming soon to my store I'll be offering
meditation and relaxation hypnotherapy downloads. And you can always
tune in to "The Bottom Line!"

Ginger
Potatoes with Onions
By Anoushka Shankar
o 2 lbs potatoes
o Onions (12 oz; any kind)
o 2 cloves fresh garlic
o 1" piece of fresh ginger root
o 1 tsp ground cumin seeds
o ¼ tsp turmeric powder
o Oil (enough for frying)
o Salt (to taste)
Peel and coarsely chop potatoes and onions. Crush garlic
and finely mince ginger. Fry garlic, ginger, ground cumin
seeds, and turmeric in oil for five minutes. Add onions and
fry for five more minutes. Add potatoes and salt and cook
until potatoes are soft. Serve with Indian bread or pita bread
and yogurt.
"I've always loved potatoes and this recipe is one of
my favorite ways to prepare them."
Born in London and raised in California and India, Anoushka
Shankar is an award-winning, gifted, critically-acclaimed
classical pianist with a wide range of interests, but her
special devotion to the sitar is unmistakable. She has been
playing and studying the sitar with her father-legendary sitar
virtuoso and composer Ravi Shankar-since she was nine, and
at age thirteen she made her performing debut in New Delhi,
India. Her talent and tutelage of her father have already
led her into an extensive performing career. She and Ravi
have performed throughout India, Europe, Asia, and the United
States, and she joined him in London for a historic performance
of his "Concerto No. 1 for Sitar and Orchestra"
with Zubin Mehta conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
At age 15, Anoushka played with her father and his friend
and frequent colleague, George Harrison, on the critically
acclaimed Angel/EMI release, "Chants of India."
She also performed with her father in a concert at New York's
Town Hall that brought them together with Alice Coltrane,
widow of jazz great John Coltrane, and her son Ravi Coltrane,
who was named after Ravi Shankar. As well, Anoushka has performed
with her father at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Festival and at Carnegie
Hall. In 1998, the British Parliment presented her-at age
17-with a House of Commons Shield in recognition of her artistry
and musicianship. Anoushka is the youngest as well as the
sole female recipient of that top honor. She became the first
woman to perform at The Ramakrishna Centre in Calcutta in
February 2000. The Indian Television Academy, Asmi and India
Times chose her as one of four Women of the Year in India
in 2003. In 2004, Anoushka was chosen as one of twenty Asian
heroes by the Asia edition of Time magazine. In 1998, her
first solo recording, Anoushka, was released to tremendous
critical acclaim. Two albums followed: Anourag in 2000 and
Live at Carnegie Hall in 2001. The latter was nominated for
a Grammy Award in the "Best World Music Album" category,
making her the youngest ever nominee in that category. She
also played sitar on her father's Grammy Award-winning album
Full Circle: Carnegie Hall 2000, and has appeared as a sitarist
on several other CD's, including Sting's Sacred Love. The
year 2002 saw the release of Bapi: The Love of My Life, a
biography she wrote on her father, and Anoushka has also contributed
as a writer to several other books. The next year she acted
in her first film, Dance Like a Man. Anoushka made her conducting
debut at 19 in New Delhi, conducting a 22-member orchestra
premiering a new composition of her father's titled "Kalyan."
She later conducted again at the historic Concert for George
in November 2002. The new composition of her father's, "Arpan,"
featured a guitar solo by Eric Clapton and performances by
43 musicians playing Indian and Western intruments. Before
conducting, she also played a sitar solo and performed "The
Inner Light" with Jeff Lyne. Anoushka has shared the
stage with many of the world's top celebrities, including
Sting, Madonna, Nina Simone, Anjelique Kidjo, Herbie Hancock,
Elton John, Peter Gabriel and James Taylor, and had the fortune
to perform in front of such personalities as Ray Charles and
Prince Charles. Anoushka spends much of the year giving solo
performances in Europe, America and Asia, and continues touring
the world with her father's ensemble. Web site: www.anoushkashankar.com
