Who Is Lynne Andrews?

Lynn Andrews is the New York Times and internationally best-selling author of the Medicine Woman Series, which chronicles her three decades of study and work with shaman healers on four continents. Her study of the way of the sacred feminine began with Agnes Whistling Elk and Ruby Plenty Chiefs, Native American healers in northern Canada. Her quest for spiritual discovery continued with a Shaman Curendera of the Mayan Yucatan; an Aboriginal woman of high degree in the Australian Outback or Nepalese healer in the foothills of the Himalayas. Today, she is recognized worldwide as a leader in the fields of spiritual healing and personal empowerment. A shaman healer and mystic, Ms. Andrews is widely acknowledged as a major link between the ancient world of shamanism and modern societies thirst for profound personal healing and a deeper understanding of the pathway to enlightenment.

Lynn is initiated as a member of the Sisterhood of the Shields, 44 women who are healers from cultures as diverse as Panama, Guatemala, Australia, Nepal, North America and the Yucatan. Remaining hidden, the Sisterhood has appointed Ms. Andrews as their public messenger. Passed from generation to generation, their teachings, born of the sacred feminine, have been practiced, guarded and handed down from shaman to apprentice, mother to daughter, for over 5,000 years. Along with her Medicine Woman Series, Lynn has written a total of 21 best selling books and workbooks about her work with these women and their unique and deeply profound teachings.

Together with her teachers, Lynn Andrews is the architect of the Personal Act of Power, finding balance around the sacred wheel of life. She presents these shamanic teachings in her four year program in her Mystery School, a two-year program called Writing Spirit, The School, and provides online courses for conscious dreaming and manifesting your personal acts of power. Stop Trying to Overpower What Disturbs You

It isn't this world that threatens or disturbs us. We are dominated by our own thoughts and feelings. We are taken over by our own reactions. This is painful for us because our original nature, our True Self, longs to be free and unencumbered by self-limiting, self-defeating, compulsive thoughts and feelings.

The problem is, at our present level, we believe that another person or event is causing our unhappy feelings. We want power over them in the hope that it will give us power over our punishing feelings. Can you see that this approach to self-command is doomed from its ill-conceived beginning?

So where do we look for the power we need to be happy?

Look for this power not in a person, place, possession, idea, or belief, but through the new understanding that your higher, permanent nature needs no power outside of itself in order to be in charge of an inner or outer attacker. Its strength is what I call the Silent Force. It alone can do for you what you have been unable to do for yourself.

These huge inner shadows with all their howling may be present, but where is it written that they belong to you? The Silent Force is the understanding that you need not answer to any disturbance within you. Any form of response to a negative state, other than to silently observe it, is always a form of resistance to it. And what we resist persists.

There is no self-power that can make light out of darkness. Remember this lesson the next time you feel compelled to help yourself out of a dark inner thought or feeling. Remember the Silent Force. Go silent! Choose to watch, as quietly as possible, all the familiar thoughts and feelings calling for your attention... and dare to give them the "silent treatment." This new order of silence and inner light will do for you what you have not been able to do for yourself. It will turn the dark inner skies into pleasant blue ones. Go silent, and watch the dark clouds of thoughts and feelings pass through you. Behind them is the sun.

Recipe of the Month


Shrimp Macaloo

Cooking Time: 25 -30 minutes, 1-large skillet

3 tablespoons olive or grapeseed oil
1 medium onion
1 tomato (peeled and minced fine)
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon tumeric
3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons ginger
2 cloves of garlic (minced)
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1 lb fresh or frozen thawed shrimp
4 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon of corn flour or gluten free flour

Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet.
Add onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add tomato, chili powder, tumeric and 3 tablespoons water. Stir and cook until it becomes a thickened paste.
Add ginger, garlic, cumin and cook 5 minutes.
Add shrimp and 4 tablespoons water. Cook 10 minutes.
Add and blend in vinegar, salt and corn flour or flour blend. Stir and cook 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Serve over basmati rice.
