Get the Nature that Rides You Off Your Back!

Any time you are sitting at home and a thought comes and says, "What about this? What about them? What's going to happen if this?" you are burdened. You are carrying on your back, in your heart, in your mind, the weight of a set of thoughts and feelings you believe have the right to ride you to where they tell you to go... as if you were saddled by a donkey!

You're misled into thinking that when you're worried about something you are actively engaged in solving a problem. But you aren't. When you're worried about something, you are actively being ridden by a host of thoughts and feelings using you to transport that nature where it wants to go.

How did things get so topsy-turvy, so upside down?

Every time you identify with a fear, every time a regret from your past appears, every time some sense of being inadequate to a moment makes its presence known... without recognizing it because it's so familiar to you, you have remanded yourself over to a nature that you are supposed to be in charge of, and that is not supposed to be in charge of you!

But nothing in life stands in your way of getting free save for what you have yet to understand about your own nature. That's it! You can come to understand that whatever is in my way, no matter how troublesome, is part of the way. What defeats you when you meet a limitation is failing to understand that your own nature produces the condition by resisting it.

What would it mean to start using your life deliberately to see these truths and gain a whole new understanding about your nature? How can you act on this knowledge? Here are three key ways:

Be still.
Have you ever noticed the angrier you get, the faster your mind moves? Does anxiety slow down or does it gather mass? Does fear ever go, "Let's rest"? No. Every negative state accelerates by the power of resistance. We think when we resist we're slowing stuff down so we can get a handle on it! But now, I'm going to sit here and be as present to myself as I can.

Remember.
I remember hearing what I know is true: that resistance is an accelerant, and that everything chattering to me is lying to me. I mustn't engage with these voices when I'm afraid. I mustn't listen to the part of me that tells me, "It's over. It's done. They're the worst." Because the more I attend to those parts of me that don't want the moment, the bigger the moment gets!

Surrender.
When I'm still and I remember, I understand my sole task is to endure the nature trying to drag me into its deliberations, its justifications, its explanations of why if I don't fight, get angry, or regret, I'm missing the mark! But my new understanding teaches me that to hit the mark - the only way to have proper authority over this present nature - is to witness it as it acts to convince me of what it wants without having to think about it.

Who you are does not want to be angry. But it isn't enough to regret or resent your own anger when it appears. You have something inside of you - an awareness, a living light - that by its very existence understands, without one thought, the actual nature of anger, fear, hatred, and regret. And when you can see for yourself the nature of something, you will not allow it to ride you anymore.

Rather you work to realize as much as you can about it. In that revelation, a new integration can take place, and a new order of yourself can surface that can no more be saddled by a donkey than a shark can attack a star.

Spiritual Respect

The dictionary defines the noun 'respect' as the following:
1. The act of respecting or noticing with attention; 2. the act of holding in high esteem; deference or honor; 3. a state of being held in honor or esteem; 4. to show consideration for; regard; 5. courteous expression of respect; regards; 6. a particular point or detail; 7. partiality; undue bias to the prejudice of justice; 8. consideration; motive in reference to something; 9. relation; regard; reference; as in respect for your problem.

These are all meanings of respect on a human level, but here's how it applies on a Spiritual Level...

What is Spiritual Respect?

Spiritual respect is not earned in the sense of what you know or what you achieve on your life path journey. It does not come from judgement, expectation, the need for control, the need to be right, negative emotions like jealousy or worry about what other people think, rationalization, attitudes or feelings on what you want or think "respect" should be. It is not used for personal gain, ego or power. Spiritual respect is a God-given right held by all living things that should be honored, esteemed and regarded by everyone at all times. It is not demanding. It does not encompass judgement from human mores and values. It is the awareness of seeing beyond human limitations and conditions to the positive life force in every living thing.

Where Does It Come From?

Spiritual Respect comes from a deep abiding unshakable faith, hope, charity and trust. The development of an inner knowing, positive energy, grounding, focus and centeredness. It requires the balance of power and energy, and experience.

How to Use Spiritual Respect?

" Separate human emotion/physical respect experiences from spiritual respect experience.
" Use awareness to see beyond human limitations and conditions to the positive life force of every living thing.
" Honor and esteem the uniqueness and energy in every living thing.
" Act honorably and use gentle regard without judgement.
" To realize that the personal journey of all is a unique process perceived from their own perspective which is their growth path to higher consciousness.
" Find the positiveness in each situation
" Walk through fear and judgement
" Think of the ramifications on all around you before you act.
" Welcome change as an opportunity
" Take responsibility for your actions
" Use the Power of intention and positive thought
" Do not intrude on anyone's free will
" Balance receiving and giving
" Self-empower people in their path of self-discovery
" Use kindness
" Perceive how people or things will receive your actions, thoughts and feelings
" Understand that we are all one and make a positive impact on existence through every word, thought and deed.
" Understand that everything has value
" Benefit mankind and the world
" Come from love in all things

How to Develop Spiritual Respect.

" Live in the "Now" - not the past or future
" Let go of judgement
" Let go of rigid goals and expectation
" Let go of rationalization
" Let go of negative thoughts and phrases like can't, shouldn't, wouldn't, if
" Let go of negative emotions like hate, discrimination, anger, jealousy, hate, self-pity, guilt
" Develop responsibility for your actions
" Eliminate fear on all levels
" Let go of ego
" Realize there are no secrets
" Realize there are no mistakes
" Take care of your body, mind and spirit
" Reduce the 4 levels of stress in your life
" Practice relaxation
" Let go of materialism
" Let go of the need for power
" Be self-reliant
" Develop spiritual, ethical and moral values
" Practice love

The HealthyLife.net Recipe of the Month


MacKeema (Spiced Meat)

Cooking Time: 40-45 minutes; 1 large skillet

½ cup unsalted butter or ghee
1-lb. ground beef
1 medium onion (diced)
1 clove garlic (diced)
1 tablespoon ginger
½ teaspoon coriander
2 medium tomatoes (diced)
¼ teaspoon cardamom
1 medium cinnamon stick
3-4 whole cloves
1 bay leaf
½ teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or chili powder
2-3 potatoes (diced)
Boiling water

Measure and mix all spices together in a small dish. Melt butter in a large skillet. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until golden brown. Remove from heat, add all the spices to the melted butter and stir until a thick paste. Place back on heat and let simmer about 30 seconds. Add the meat and brown. Add the potatoes and tomatoes and cook 8 minutes stirring to cook evenly on all sides. Cover with boiling water and bring to a boil and simmer 25-30 minutes. Remove cover and simmer 5 minutes or until sauce thickens. Serve over basmati rice.
