HOST HAPPENINGS

HOST OF THE MONTH:

Joan Irvine
Your Best Life
4th Wednesday each Month, 2pm PT, 5pm ET

Who is Joan Irvine?

Dr. Joan, a passionate advocate for sexual health, understands the need to challenge these assumptions and support individuals in exploring the possibilities of sexuality. With a diverse background and a wealth of experience, Dr. Joan combines her education, work, and life experiences to encourage seniors to embrace a healthy and fulfilling sex life. Her qualifications and expertise make her a credible authority on sexual enhancement and well-being. She holds a BA in Psychology (Behavior Modification) from the University of Kansas and is a Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Her extensive knowledge allows her to employ various techniques, including hypnosis, behavior modification, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), cognitive learning, and practical suggestions, along with the use of sex toys and cannabis, to add excitement to individuals' sex lives.

Dr. Joan who has worked in technology, sales, government relations, online child protection, and internet policy development, her true passion has always been sexual enhancement. In the 1960s, she developed a sex education course at theUniversity of Kansas. In the late 1980s, she served as an educator for Masters and Johnson and worked as a matchmaker in Beverly Hills. In 1990, she authored a workbook on menopause titled "Taking Charge of Your Changes," recognizing the importance of addressing menopause as a sexual transition in our lives. She also co-authored the book "Recipes for Hot Sex: The Book For A Spicy Sex Life...Just Add Love."

In the 2000s, Dr. Joan embarked on a new direction by working in technology once again, this time focusing on online child protection. Since her efforts were funded by the adult entertainment industry, she gained an interesting insight into sexuality. This eye-opening experience further enriched her knowledge and understanding of sexual dynamics.

Dr. Joan makes public appearances, sharing her insights on various television, radio, and internet programs. Her notable interview is "The View" with Barbara Walters. She has spoken at numerous conferences, including the prestigious California Governor's Conference for Women.

Dr. Joan was diagnosed with uterine cancer and underwent a hysterectomy several years ago. Fortunately, she did not require any additional treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, or medication. Throughout she had concerns about how this procedure would impact her sex life and repeatedly sought answers from her oncologist. However, the doctor was dismissive of her inquiries. This added even more resolve to her ongoing mission is to challenge stigmas, debunk myths, and support individuals in their sexual journeys making her a valuable resource for seniors seeking to embrace this new chapter of their lives.

FEATURE ARTICLE
10 Causes of Needless Heartache
by Guy Finley -
"Letting Go" Tuesdays, 6pm PT

Why do we accept so much unhappiness in our lives today? If you think this supposition is untrue, ask yourself why people spend so much time seeking ways to distract themselves with empty pleasures? Or why so many people push themselves along one spiritual path after another, blindly hoping that something will happen to mitigate their sense of emptiness?
The self that is moved to do this kind of imagining does not understand that some unseen force of sorrow or distress fuels its dream engine. Consequently, the more it works to imagine some hoped-for happiness, the more identified it becomes with the opposite of what is driving this dream of brighter times to come.

Our lives are meant to be bright, noble, and ever ascending. This promise of our true potential is made good in us by fulfilling our possibilities and not through the interminable struggle of trying to prove what is impossible. Most of our sorrows are the stressful offspring of trying to be something we have no real need to be; they are born for attempting to do what cannot-and need not-be done.

The following Ten Causes of Needless Heart aches reveal how we cause ourselves unnecessary suffering.
Each of these ten insights contains two key ideas: First, whenever we are goaded into attempting the "impossible," we not only suffer defeat, but we also strengthen the self that would have us believe it's possible to put a fire out with gasoline.
Second, as we awaken to see these false workings in our mind, we also see there is only one possible solution to end the suffering they cause: we must stop listening to and obeying their foolish advice. In other words, as soon as we see that the healing we hope for begins with releasing our unseen relationship with the parts of ourselves that are responsible for our self-hurting, the sooner our heartaches end.

Now, let's look at ten small places in our lives where we are trying to do the impossible and where, as a result of our misunderstanding, we are still sowing and reaping the harvest of frustration and heartache.

1. It is impossible to make others see where they have made a mistake.

2. It is impossible to be carried to a secure and peaceful harbor on a ship crafted by anxiety or fueled by fearful feelings.

3. It is impossible to gain real happiness at the expense of someone else's pain.

4. It is impossible to genuinely elevate yourself by pushing another person lower.

5. It is impossible to take advantage of others without living in secret fear of them.

6. It is impossible to realize the fulfillment of the Divine as long as we remain filled with ourselves.

7. It is impossible to rise above any fear or worry whose root we have not found, uncovered, and removed from our own present misunderstanding.

8. It is impossible to receive forgiveness in life without having learned what it means to freely forgive.

9. It is impossible to wish another person any kind of ill, for any reason, and not be made sick ourselves.

10. It is impossible to resist or hate any condition in life and learn from it at the same time.

See how many ways you can enlarge this list through insights of your own about the ways in which you are being tricked into punishing yourself. This is priceless self-study and it rewards the sincere seeker with a life free of unnecessary sorrow. Remember and honor your intention to win Real Life by daring to act out the truths that set you free. This is the challenge, and the cost, of earning true contentment in life.

The HealthyLife.net Recipe of the Month

Coriander Shrimp Scampi

Cooking Time: 8-10 minutes, 1-large skillet

1 lb. fresh or frozen thawed shrimp
1/3 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon coriander
1 tablespoon parsley
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1 teaspoon salt
1-2 tablespoons grated Romano goat or sheep's milk cheese

Over low heat, in a large skillet melt butter and olive oil.
Place fresh or thawed frozen shrimp in a single layer in bottom of skillet.
Sprinkle shrimp with salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper and spices.
Cook over medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
Turn shrimp over and cook an additional 4-5 minutes.
Sprinkle grated Romano cheese over shrimp in skillet. Remove from heat.
Serve immediately over basmati rice, brown rice, quinoa linguine or brown rice spaghetti.

Or as my 4-year old grandson once told me…"Grandma, place the basmati rice in the center…put the shrimp around the rice mound…now spoon the sauce over just the shrimp." That'll teach me! We watched Emeril together when I would watch him at 2 years old; by 4 years old he was cooking this for his family. That child forgets NOTHING and now he's 21 years old!
